Weekend Highlights

This weekend was a pretty good and busy one. It started Friday by going to see Macbeth at BYU. I had to see it for one of my classes. When I got there I noticed a lady sitting in front of me with the typical homemade Mormon-mom jumpers on, but it looked really familiar. Then I realized that it was made form the exact same fabric pattern as the quilt I made with my mom when I was 12 years old. I was pretty funny. Then throughout the performance I'm pretty sure I saw up a few men's skirts while they were on stage.



On Saturday I went to a gym were we would be teaching downsyndrome kids how to play basketball. I was kind of nervous, but it turned out to be really fun. All the kids were really sweet. One of the best was the boy, Kevin who kept grabbing mine and Coriann's (another girls on the basketball teams) hand and then putting them together so we would hold hands. Another great kid was Princess Penny who went around calling everyone different types of food.



After that I went with Jessica to our ward's fellowship Olympics. It turned out to be really fun. We got there a little late so Jessica and I had to split up on two teams. One was the orange team and the other the pink team. Jessica being the mean friend she is and knowing how much I dislike the color pink, refused to let me be on the orange team. We had a pudding eating contest, games with skittles and flour, and a four-legged race. And of course my team won.



Finally we head straight over to the senior flute recital of one the girls in our ward. We were a little under dressed and had a little flour on us, so we went straight to the back of the room before anyone noticed. The recital was pretty good. The best part was "The Train Song." It was way cool. Supposedly towards the end she was singing and playing in the flute at the same time, but I didn't really hear it. Anyway, that song was really cool.



So it was a pretty good weekend.

Easter Eggs!

Easter time is almost here! This year Michelle had the great idea of making paper mache Easter eggs. It was so much fun helping the kids and then doing my own. Here are some pictures of the big three part event. My creative masterpiece is currently adorning my living room for all of my roommates and I to enjoy.

I'm Still a Child Inside

Yesterday I walked to school with Jessica and we noticed that someone had put up a tire swing in a near by tree. Later that night at about 10:30 we decide to go test it out. So at 10:30 at night there was me and Jessica playing on a tire swing. We were only there for about ten minutes, but it was still pretty fun, ecspecially watching Jessica struggle and scream. It reminded me of the good old days of being a carefree kid. I've always wished I could be a little kid forever!

Monday nights are definitely one of the best nights of the week. Why you ask, because 24 is on. I love this show! It is so suspenseful and it leaves me dieing for the next episode every week. Jack Bauer is freaking awesome and once again I am dieing to know what happens next.

I also love this show because I have an awesome family who is also watches it. We often talk about what's going on and make predictions or talk about who we hate or love on the show. Every week Jordan and Michelle are kind enough to let me come over for dinner and 24. I love going over there to watch it.

Tonight was extra fun because Kenny, Marci, and Levi came over. We had pizza and root beer floats. Before I came out to Utah I would hear about the 24 parties that all my sibling would have together every week. But since last year 24 was cancelled and now Jason and Jaime are in Ogden and Marci and Kenny are in Spanish Fork we haven't had one. So thank you very much to Jordan and Michelle for tonight. Another awesome episode of 24, good company, and ice cream, what more could you ask for?

My Busy Day

Yesterday was a pretty busy day, between the hours of 7:30am and 11:30pm I was home for like ten minutes. It started with a classes homework and a test. Then I met up with Jessica at the International Cinema to watch "Hennry Poole is Here." It was a pretty weird move, but I liked it. It was all about this water stain that looked like Jesus.

After the movie I came home to get something to eat and then left to meet Esther st the Mariott Center. We met up to go to a gymnastics meet. I never seen gymnastics in person and I love watching it in the olympics, so I thought I should check it out. It was pretty cool.

Right after the meet we went over to the school for Humor U. It was great! I went for the first time last Feburary because one of the guys in my family home evening group is in it. We really enjoyed it last time, so we decided to go again. It was really funny. But there was one joke that really hurt me. One of the guys was talking about how he's been trying to find quite place, with not very many people around, and that he finally found one. The women's basketball games! Can you believe that! How rude!!!

Rex Lee Run

On Saturday I volunteered at BYU's annual Rex Lee Run. Jessica and I went and arrived at the track at 7 am. It was early and cold. First, I started out sitting at a table doing registration. Then one of the workers in charged asked for one of us to come help with something else. So I followed some people around for a little having no idea what I was going to do.

I then got into a back of a truck and we drove around laying down cones to mark the path for the runners. It was freezing cold driving around in the back. We were frantically driving about and I still didn't know what we were doing half the time. And the guy driving was in a hurry, so he was driving pretty crazy with us in the back. Then we drove down rape hill. For those of you who don't know what rape hill is, it is a walking path up to campus. So we were driving down this hill went is only meant for bikes and pedestrians and he wasn't taking it very slow either. It was pretty fun and probably something I will never be able to do again.

After setting up tons of cones I got dropped off at a water station. This water station was the only one that both the 5K and 10K run come past, so it was really busy. We filled up tons of cups before anyone came but they ran out fast. I had to hurriedly fill up tons of cups. My back and thumb were both hurting. Before the rush I was able to stand in front of the table and hand cups off to people. The first cup I had out spilled all other the runner. I felt pretty bad, but it was also funny. I had to learn the finesse of handing off a cup of water to someone running by.

It was really fun and hectic. I was really glad I went.

Sacrament Meeting

Today I participated in the weirdest sacrament meeting ever. First of all, the subject is marriage and dating, which has been a VERY popular topic recently. So if the subject wasn't awkward enough, the high councilor decided to get us started right away.


He made everyone stand up and situate themselves so that they were boy, girl, boy, girl.etc. Once everyone moved he told us to introduce ourselves and then tell two likes and one dislike. WEIRD, right?


Then he proceed to talk and make awkward comments. For example, "you could be sitting next to your eternal companion." He also gave us some date ideas like, going the devotional or a date to sacrament meeting.


He was killing me up there and I couldn't even sit next to Jessica to laugh and joke about everything. So today was definitely the weirdest sacrament meeting. Only at a BYU singles ward!

Viva Las Vegas! Day Two

Things didn't quiet go as planned. We lost our first game 58-66. It pretty much sucked!!! Big time. I am actually already back in Provo, so I am really upset about that. Our game was at 7 last night and we left at 10 the next morning. I really don't want to go to any of my classes since I wasn't planning on it and none of my teachers are expecting me there.

I did go to In-N-Out yesterday, which was pretty sweet. Melissa, you can tell Adam and make him jealous. To get into the gym you had to have a credential and id, so it was pretty intense. The two times we went to the gym I had problems getting in. The first time they forgot to print off my credential and then the second time I wasn't on the list.

One highlight from the day before that I forgot about. On the way home from eating dinner some girls sang primary songs all the way back to the hotel. Only at BYU!!

We did get a backpack and headphones from the tournament, so that is pretty nice I guess.

Viva Las Vegas! Day One

This week I am down in Vegas for the conference tournament. I'm really excited and I hope we do well so we can stay all week.

The first day of the trip was yesterday. It started with practice in the morning before we took off. Practice was at nine, but I had to finish up my paper and turn it in before then. I woke up early to get it down, then drove to campus to print it. Of course, I was 10 cents shy of being able to print all the pages and then it took me like eight tries to put money on my card. Things were starting to get stressful. So finally I got it printed and then did a run-walk to my teacher's office to drop it off. Then I did a run-walk back to my car. Got home packed all the last minute items and my awesome roommate, Rebecca, dropped me off at the Marriott Center. I looked around and it seemed weird because I didn't notice any of my team mates cars. A little worries I went down any way and of course it was dark. Practice got moved back to 10, but everyone forgot to tell me. Luckily, one other girl showed up early so we hung out for an hour until practice.

Next was the six hour bus ride down to Vegas, which wasn't to terrible. Surprisingly, I wasn't able to sleep as much as I usually do. On one of are pit stops at a gas station, I guess Kenny Rogers was there, but I don't really know who this is, so it wasn't that exciting. We watched Drumline and 007 on the way down. We also played Catchphrase, which was the best part of the bus ride. It is fun playing with people who are just as competitive as I am.

When we arrived in Vegas we dropped our stuff off at the Marriott hotel and then went to eat. We ate at Bahama Breeze. It was pretty good. Then we just went back to the hotel to relax until going to sleep. Your first game is today, so hopefully I will post tomorrow with some good news.

Brownies

For one of my classes we have two people bring treats every week since the class is two and a half hours long. This week was my turn, so luckily I had a box of brownie mix that my mom gave me. I decided I would make that. So last night I started making them and went to set the timer on my phone, but couldn't find it. When I went to ask Jessica to set her timer she was on the phone, so I decided I would just have to remember. Not to hard, right?

Actually it is. Jessica distracted me and I brunt my brownies. You would think that I would have learned this from my mother by now, but apparently not. I tried to perform surgery and cut out the middle hoping those would be okay to take. But they were a little too chewy. I was really upset because that meant I would have to go to the store to get something. So not only did I have to get up earlier to go to the store, but then I had to spend money to get the treats. It was a bummer!

By the way I took pictures of them for all of you, but I don't know where the chord to my camera is, but this is about what they looked like. Also just to let you know the brownies didn't go to a complete waste. I will be eating some extra chewy brownies for the next couple of days.

FHE

Last week for family home evening my apartment was in charge of the activity. Of course, I came up with the brilliant idea of playing wallyball and Rebecca was smart enough to reserve us courts. We thought it would be fun to spice things up a little and wear the pink sweet bands I got in New Mexico. It was a lot of fun. I just hope I didn't scare away to many people.

So here we are being as weird as ever.
